We have always loved the “precept upon precept, line upon line,” teaching from Isaiah 28:10. It brings us such comfort to realize that not everything has to be done at once. As we were reminded by President Oaks, “…over a significant period of time, seemingly small things bring to pass great things.” That’s what this painting represents to us.
We all start with just one line of truth or a gospel principle that makes sense to us. Then, over time, we keep adding another line of truth, another line of a gospel principle, and then another, until we have a testimony based on many lines of truths and principles. The colors represent the world we live in — a beautiful place with much to offer but also a place that can be overwhelming at times. The white represents the peace the gospel brings to our lives through our ever-growing testimony. The wider and brighter our testimonies grow, the more we can rely on it to bring us the much needed peace we seek after.
